Where do I begin?

So you just found out about NatureRx. Maybe you were prescribed time in nature by the Health Center. Maybe you just need new tools for managing the stress of college. Either way, you've come to the right place.

2. Stop and Look

If you are comfortable, find a spot to sit down. Staying still without distractions can help you notice things around you and be more tied the present moment. Don't forget to put your phone away!

1. Try 10 minutes

Studies have shown that just 10 minutes in nature can reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus, and improve mental well-being. Try just 10 minutes to start with. Go outside, find a spot close to home, breathe and observe.

3. Stay a while

Once you're more comfortable being outside, schedule time in your week to spend outdoors. The benefits of spending time in nature keep increasing up to an hour. You'll gain more benefits the more time you spend.

4. Feel the benefits

Notice how you feel after spending time in nature. Are you more calm or focused? If you feel an improvement in your mental health (hint: we think you will) then come up with ways to use those benefits. Spend time outside before a big test, or go for a hike when you feel anxious. If you've been prescribed NatureRx by a health care provider, let them know what worked for you!
